Karan Johar opened up about how he gave fashion tips to Shah Rukh Khan, the first time they met, leaving that latter stunned
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s unbreakable bond with actor Shah Rukh Khan is well-known to all. Having worked on many movies, they changed the definition of romantic movies in the Hindi entertainment industry. While we know they have been each others’ pillars of strength through the tough times, Karan has always opened up about the impact SRK had in his life. Now, in a conversation with fashion designer Prabal Gurung, the director opened up about meeting the actor on the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) for the first time and giving him fashion tips.
Shedding light on the hilarious encounter with Khan, he recalled giving the actor styling tips like using a different brand of jeans and unbuttoning his shirt, which left the latter stunned. Recalling their first meet on the sets of Aditya Chopra directorial, the filmmaker said that he was working there as an assistant. He went on to express how he asked to wear Levi’s jeans instead of Wrangler, as the former would fit him better. The 51-year-old Dharma Productions' head honcho went on to add, “He was stunned. I didn’t know what gave me that entitlement I had. And I said, ‘Oh you have an Adam’s apple, you must open your shirt 2-3 buttons.’ So, he just kept nodding.” He recalled how SRK proceeded to call Chopra and asked him who Johar was and where he came from. Karan proceeded to say, “So, Adi told him, ‘He’s a townie, they all talk like this.’ I was being very genuine. Eventually, Shah Rukh started finding amusement in all these things that I was saying and he was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ I was like, ‘I want to be a designer’.”
Well, their first encounter might be hilarious but the bond they formed over the years and the relationship they share today is always seen as friendship goals. For the unversed, they have worked on many movies together like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and My Name Is Khan. SRK had also done a special cameo in his directorial venture Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Fans cannot wait for the actor-director duo to reunite again.
On the work front, Karan’s last outing was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen in Dunki.
